Repeat Prescriptions

How to get a Prescription

If you think you may need a prescription medicine, please make an appointment with the doctor. Your local pharmacist should be able to give you advice for non-prescription medication.

How to get a Repeat Prescription

Patients on long term medication may obtain repeat prescriptions without seeing the Doctor. These prescriptions are held on computer, which helps us to keep accurate records of your medication.

Repeat prescriptions can be obtained by bringing your request slip (attached to your prescription) to the surgery (when closed put through the letterbox). You can post your request slip plus a stamped addressed envelope for the completed prescription to be sent to you. Prescriptions for most medication can be sent to a nominated pharmacy of your choice. Please allow at least 72 hours before collection at the surgery or pharmacy of your choice.

Please try and bring your slip to the surgery one week before your medication is due to run out.  We are unable to process repeat medication requests on the same day. We cannot take telephone requests for repeat prescriptions because of the possibility of error. At the discretion of the doctors housebound / infirm patients may be able to order their prescriptions over the phone.

Approximately once a year the repeat prescription will be reviewed by your usual Doctor. We do this to monitor your illness and medication. In this instance your prescription will be ready within 5 working days.
